Administration
Daron Banks is the proud principal of Skyline North Elementary. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a teaching certification from Lewis and Clark State College in Lewiston Idaho and later completed a Master’s in Educational Administration from Brandman University. Before transitioning to education, Mr. Banks served six years in the United States Coast Guard before being medically retired. He is happily married and a devoted father to one son.
Mr. Banks began his teaching career in Olympia, Washington, in 2001, shortly after retiring from the USCG. His early years in education included two years as a special education teacher and one year teaching high school physical education. After three years in Washington, he moved back to California, teaching physical education at Newberry Elementary. This led to his long-term commitment to the Barstow Unified School District (BUSD), starting with one year at Barstow Junior High School before transitioning to his alma mater, Barstow High School, where he taught PE and Weight Training for a decade.
His passion for leadership led him to pursue a master's degree and take on the role of assistant principal at Barstow High School, where he served for over ten years. He later became assistant principal at Lenwood Elementary School, and in early 2024, he was honored to become the principal of Skyline North Elementary.
Mr. Banks considers it a privilege to lead such a dynamic school. He firmly believes that communication is key to the success of any educational environment, and he maintains an open-door policy for staff, students, and parents alike. His goal is to ensure that everyone in the school community feels heard and supported.
